A drive has been initiated to create a corpus to enable sponsorship of education of economically backward students. Alumni is a great help for research collaborations and exchange programmes.

Alumni 2019

SVB’s college of Pharmacy completed 25 glorious years of excellence and service in the field of pharma education under the able stewardship and guidance of Founder President  Dr. R. Varadarajan. To give a befitting conclusion to this 25-year celebration SVB’s college of Pharmacy organised A GRAND ALUMNI MEET on 25th May 2019.

An initiative and step towards building a great institute are to foster a spirit of loyalty and strengthen the ties between alumni and the institute. The SVBCP alumni association was established in the year 2012 with contacts of very few students. To take this association to greater heights, with the help of technology, the alumni committee sent an invitation for the grand alumni meet to all the past students through various routes of technology- email, Facebook & Whatsapp.

The invite is as shown below.
The number of alumni who joined the meet was approximately 100. During registration, the alumni were asked to fill a survey form which encompassed information regarding their status, qualification and job description. The form also had particulars, where the students had to give information about the role of education at SVBCP and how it has helped them in their work environment. The alumni were also asked to give suggestions on the improvement of educational facilities in SVBCP and their contribution to the same.

The alumni meet commenced at sharp 4.00 pm with the auspicious lighting of the lamp by our Founder President  “Dr. R. Varadarajan”. It was followed by a delightful and pleasing dance by the first Year students. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Monita Gide presented the welcome address which was followed by a swift run-through of the Institute achievement over the 25 years period by Dr. (Mrs.) Sandhya P. She stressed on the establishment of the Master’s program in the branches of Pharmacognosy & Phytochemistry and Quality Assurance and doctoral program in Pharmacognosy. Procurement of sophisticated instruments like High-Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and further rendering services of analysis to various establishments. The awards and honours received by the NES/SVB group of institutes and the British honour to the Founder President were the important milestones of the institute.

The alumni then enthralled themselves in a beautiful movie prepared by the staff members of their memories in the institute. After this reminiscence of the past, the alumni were oriented towards NBA (National Board of Accreditation) accreditation of the B.Pharm program of the institute. Dr. (Ms.) Chhaya Gadgoli address the students and told them that institute after completion of 25 years of Pharma Education, is marching forward toward the accreditation of its B.Pharm program. She gave a short speech on the NBA and focussed on the following points.
Accreditation is an important part of quality assurance for an educational institution and it ensures that the institute meets with quality standards. The process of accreditation helps in the SWOT analysis of the institute and provides directions and opportunities for its future growth. It gives the institute a new sense of direction and identity.

Accreditation will ensure that the learner has entered the portals of an Institution, which has the essential and desirable features of quality
professional education and assures the prospective employers that learners have acquired the essential competence that satisfy the established standards. The accreditation process will reassure the alumni that they come from an institute where the content and quality of education has been evaluated. The alumni, being one of the prospective employers can be confident that the skills and knowledge imparted to their juniors will be enriched with high standards of learning. As alumni are stakeholders, their contribution to NBA inspection is an essential element. Dr Chhaya then requested the alumni to support the college during the NBA inspection.

The alumni were then invited for a small game where the juniors and seniors students interacted with each other andshared their thoughts and portfolios. The alumni also hosted a musical extravaganza which captivated the audience.

The alumni meet concluded with the presidential address by Dr R. Varadharajan. He reminded the students about the sacrifices made during the commencement and progress of the institute. He asked the senior alumni to help in the upliftment of the college. President Sir also felicitated the senior alumnus, Mr Sahil Desai, as a “STAR ALUMNI” for his contribution towards the Pharmaceutical field.

The alumni meet concluded with a vote of thanks and the national anthem followed by high tea.

The alumni meet was thus a walk down the memory lane, where the sweetness of reunion brought a smile and joy to every student
